The community of Arlington is located in the Arlington Valley at the north bend of the Gila River in Central Arizona. The valley is bounded by the Palo Verde Hills and Gila Bend Mountains to the west and the Hassayampa River and Buckeye Hills to the east. Arlington proper includes the flood plain of the valley, between the Arlington Canal and the Gila River and the mouth of the Hassayampa River and Gillespie Dam, as well as a small enclave at the north end of the valley.

"Greater" Arlington includes Arlington proper but also includes the more contemporary developments of Arlington Farms and Phoenix Valley West.
